What is your profession?
I have a degree in English translation, which I gained at the South Ural State University in Russia, Institute of Linguistics. Later on, I also gained a degree in marketing at the same university at the School of Economics. I worked as a translator and as a teacher of English and translation theory at the university. Now I work in civil engineering for a family-owned company.
How did you become a tour guide?
Over ten years ago, I moved to Prague, feeling like I needed a change. I started taking photos, which developed my interest in the city, and I became a tour guide eventually after completing a certified course. Having obtained a second degree identification card for Czech tourist guides, I’m happy that I can now share my love for Prague and the Czech Republic with the citizens of Prague and with the guests of the city and the whole country.
Which building/part of Prague or architectural style is your favorite?
I love Nový svět, Malá Strana, and the streets around Betlémské náměstí the most. I love Art Nouveau, cubism, and functionalism. My favorite buildings in Prague include the Church of St. Wenceslas in Vršovice, the Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord at Jiřího z Poděbrad Square, the Municipal House, the cubist house Diamant, and the House of the Black Madonna in the Old Town. My favorite architects are Josef Gočár, Osvald Polívka, and Jože Plečnik.
How long have you been working with Open House Prague and what do you like about it?
It hasn’t been that long since I started working with Open House Prague, only since the spring of 2021. What I enjoy about Open House Prague is that it gives me new experiences, new observations, brings me to new places, and, of course, allows me to meet amazing people.
What are your hobbies?
I love to read, especially historical books. I travel a lot, not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad. I’m passionate about photography: I take photos of people, cities, and nature, too. I like to have an active lifestyle – sports, tourism, cycling, dancing salsa.
