Petra Kotěšovcová

What is your profession?

Originally, I was a jeweler, and this beautiful job has taught me patience and attention to detail. I admire old jewelers who were the masters of their craft, and I love gemstones. However, life has taken me to different fields of work over time – I worked for IBM and Vodafone, I worked as a conference and event planner, I sold wine, and I organized vacations around the world for enthusiastic travelers. The slightly frantic pandemic times we live in right now have forced me to leave the beautiful world of traveling and conferences, and I currently work as a Restaurant Partnership Manager for Wolt.

How did you become a tour guide?

I like traveling and history. Thanks to my work in a traveling agency, I got an opportunity to take up a tour guiding course. And so, I started showing the beauties of the Czech Republic to Czech clients as well as clients from all over the world.

Which building/part of Prague or architectural style is your favorite?

I love the entire city because even if you go on a single walk, you can see and admire all kinds of architectural styles along the way. My favorite styles are Gothic architecture and cubism.

How long have you been working with Open House Prague and what do you like about it?

I’ve been involved in Open House Prague as a tour guide since the summer of 2021. I like to guide groups in English because I like to explain Czech history in such a way so that even visitors from abroad can fully understand.

What are your hobbies?

Traveling :), music (opera, film music, even hard rock), art, and sports – especially running, mountain biking, and martial arts (tai chi, shaolin, Krav Maga, Brazilian jiu-jitsu).
