It feels like it’s only been a few moments, but the truth is that Christmas time is here again. Whether we like it or not, Christmas would be unimaginable without presents. And let’s be honest – is there anything more beautiful than giving something nice to someone we care about? We think not, so – as in previous years – we have put together a collection of tasteful Christmas gifts that will surely bring joy to anyone who enjoys the magical atmosphere Prague and its architecture.
To celebrate the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Open House Prague festival, we are introducing a new item – a limited-edition architecture-themed planner. If you wonder what that means, know that it is a beautiful gift, and a very practical one. With gorgeous illustrations by Jan Šrámek, the wall planner is a feast for the eyes. In addition, as a little surprise, the planner also includes reminders of important architecture-related anniversaries in 2024 and tips for other festivals in the Open House Worldwide network. And of course, there is also plenty of space for your own notes. We believe that the planner will serve not only as an elegant home decoration but also as a source of inspiration for creative work, plans in free time, and even international trips.
Popular items in our store include posters with illustrations of important Prague buildings by Jan Šrámek, and the collection of posters just keeps on growing. The latest addition is a poster depicting the Žižkov Freight Railway Station, which we also visited as part of our walking tours in the fall. In total, there are currently ten posters to choose from. You can buy them separately, or in a package of three for a better price, and you can choose any three posters you like. You or your loved ones can display a piece of Prague at home and enjoy e.g. the view of ARA Palace, New Stage of the National Theater, or Hotel International.
If you’re more of a fan of experiences rather than material things, we also offer gift vouchers applicable on our guided walks and tours in the value of 300, 600, and 1,000 CZK. The holder of the voucher can then choose any of the events in our year-round calendar, apply the voucher when purchasing a ticket, and join us as we discover various parts of Prague.
Christmas Eve (or Christmas Day) wouldn’t be complete without a tree and decorations. Our Christmas collection also includes two editions of unique paper ornaments, which you can easily assemble yourself with the help of simple instructions. Your whole family can join you, and you can spend a nice creative time together with your children. The first edition pays tribute to selected buildings designed by Jan Kotěra, such as the Water Tower in Michle, Trmal Villa, Mozarteum, Peterka House, Museum of Eastern Bohemia, and the District House in Hradec Králové. The other edition references the work of Pavel Janák, such as Adria Palace and Škoda Plant, Pardubice Crematorium, and Hlávka Bridge. Motifs from the architect’s designs in applied art, such as his cubist sugar bowl, can also be found on the ornaments. Both editions are available in two colors, red and blue.
Let’s not forget that it’s important to be able to play at any age. Even a small thing can bring joy and be a gift not only to family and friends but also colleagues. For these cases, you might want to pick up a copy of our coloring pages, which help stimulate children’s imagination and are also effective as stress-relievers for adults. Or you can shop our memory cards, which depict both known and lesser known architectural gems of the capital.
If you’ve already done all your Christmas shopping and just need wrapping material, there’s nothing easier than using our brand new bags made from organic cotton. Topped with a satin ribbon, the design of the bags was inspired by the motifs found in the works of two of the leading architects of Czech history. The elegant, hand-made bags are a great alternative to wrapping paper, allowing you to wrap your Christmas presents in a simple and sustainable way.
By purchasing our products, you support the preparations of the upcoming 2024 Open House Prague festival.
Finally, we would also like to use this festive season as an opportunity to thank you for your support. We look forward to meeting again next year as we explore the beauty of architecture and the city of Prague together.
