What is your profession?

My main job is managing IT projects and providing training on related topics. Most of the time, it involves working with smart people on interesting technical solutions. Most of the time. Sometimes there are delays in delivery, but when it finally works, it’s a great feeling.

How did you become a tour guide?

I was about 15, it was the first summer after the 1989 revolution, and me and my dad went to Greece in our Zhiguli car to see all the places I had read about, never believing that I would get to see them with my own eyes. Of course I spent the entire journey there telling my dad all about the history of Greek cities, Greek architecture, and the ancient legends. We slept in our car, warmed up some sausages on our spirit stove, and it was the best vacation ever. Some thirty years later, Open House Prague came into my life, and I realized that I like to share my knowledge about architecture, especially the architecture of Prague, with other people. In my free time, I work as a Prague City Tourism tour guide for foreign tourists, and it’s nice to see how much they love Prague.

Which building/part of Prague or architectural style is your favorite?

I’ve really been enjoying Vyšehrad these past few years. It’s a nice combination of a historic landmark and a place where ordinary Prague citizens go to relax. Plus, it’s great that the Vyšehrad complex is being renovated and how it’s becoming more accessible. You can know walk freely through places that used to be locked by iron gates. There are lots of events and lectures, too, so I keep going back. And when you head down, you’re treated to beautiful examples of cubist architecture. Come on, you can’t beat that.

How long have you been working with OHP and what do you like about it?

Since my first time as a festival volunteer in 2023. I love the atmosphere of the festival, which is about being able to show people places where they can’t normally go. But the best thing about it is the people. Putting such a huge event together is not easy, so I stay with the same team every year, because I can rely on my colleagues and especially our team leaders. Thanks to them, I can focus on my job as a tour guide and enjoy the festival as much as possible.

What are your hobbies?

Star Trek, trams, and cats. Oh, and I’m also a semi-professional café loiterer. If I could make money off that, I would have been loaded by now.
