What is your profession?

I have a degree in energy engineering, with a focus on electricity generation and distribution. Throughout my entire professional career, I worked for an international company as a program and project manager for IT projects focused on business management. I am now in early retirement.

How did you become a tour guide?

Through my wife. She has worked as a volunteer for the Open House Prague festival for years, and I joined in 2021. I realized that tour guiding is something I really enjoy; it’s a great opportunity to get a boost of positive energy from visitors and also meet many other people with a passion for architecture.

Which building/part of Prague or architectural style is your favorite?

My favorite era of architecture does not exist here, which would be the ancient Greece and Rome. But I don’t have a preference besides that. I like both Romanesque and super modern buildings. For example, I find the contemporary buildings on Rohan Island quite interesting. I also like the use of Prague brownfields for modern housing development.

How long have you been working with OHP and what do you like about it?

Like I said, I started working with Open House Prague as a tour guide in 2021. Now that I have more time to do what I really enjoy, I want to get involved much more outside of the festival as well.

What are your hobbies?

I have several. I’m interested in genealogy, because it’s a kind of a detective work. I like photography, whether it’s architecture or people. I’m interested in physics, which I’ve started studying again at this stage in life. And me and my wife love to explore the world. Everywhere is good, so why stay at home.
