What is your profession?
Until 2013, I worked as an organic chemist at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, Czech Academy of Sciences. Because I’m interested in art and architecture, I was often asked to show Prague to the institute’s distinguished guests.
How did you become a tour guide?
I decided to get a professional license, and since 1998, I’ve been working as a professional tour guide, which is something I enjoy very much.
Which building/part of Prague or architectural style is your favorite?
Ever since the beginning of my career as a tour guide, I’ve always been most interested in fine art and baroque architecture, especially in the chapels, palaces, and gardens in Malá Strana. In recent years, I’ve become more interested in modern architecture of the first half of the 20th century as well, including some of the most famous architects of that era, such as Jan Kotěra, Jože Plečnik, Josef Gočár, and others.
How long have you been working with Open House Prague and what do you like about it?
I’ve been working with the organization ever since the first festival in 2015, where I did photography. Since then, I have attended the festival as a volunteer and member of the team of photographers, and for the last two years (since 2020), I have also acted as a tour guide on guided walks that take place throughout the year.
What are your hobbies?
I like sports (though now I only play tennis and do cycling), photography, and quiz shows.
